A distribution board (or fuseboard) is what supplies electricity around your house. It contains fuses that control the flow of power and give you protection from an electric shock. If your house was built in the 1960’s, 70’s or 80’s and you’ve had no work or upgrades done to your electrical system then chances are yours is out of date.
Out of date boards won’t deliver the same amount of protection as an up to date one will, this could lead to overheating of equipment inside and cause fires or in event of contact with a live cable or circuit, this could lead to severe burns or in worst case scenarios, death.
The safety of your family and you is paramount, don’t think of the cost aspect, think of safety!

This is an example of an older style distribution board. This doesn’t comply with current regulations as it doesn’t offer the same amount of protection to your home and yourself, also by using fusewire which takes a lot longer to trip compared to new style MCBs.
